In 2014, Southampton celebrated 50 years of City status and to complete the celebrations a photographic exhibition has been set up to run throughout February, as the perfect end to this milestone.

50 Years Of Southampton As A City

Brought together by GottaBe!, Solent University and chief sponsor MyFerryLink, the exhibition opened on the 3rd February in the SM building at Southampton’s Solent University (157-187 Above bar Street, Southampton, SO14 7NN) and was a fantastic evening that really portrayed Southampton as the great City it is.

A culmination of photographs makes up the exhibition, which combined showcase the true diversity of Southampton. Included are 45 beautiful pictures chosen from over a hundred sent in from the community, as part of a competition. There is an amazing range of pictures, including photos of the Itchen Bridge, the docks, cruise ships and the cities parks to name but a few.

GottaBe!’s MD Opened The Exhibition

The night was a resounding success with photographers and other guests extremely happy with the quality in which their impressive work had been displayed. Tomasz Dyl (Managing Director of GottaBe! and organiser) opened the event to a Champagne reception and cut a giant ribbon to officially mark the opening. There was real excitement throughout the opening night in which a real sense of community was felt, something the organisers really wanted to instil.

All in all, the exhibition showcased just how great the City of Southampton really is. It is open until the 28th of February and has already received great press and reaction, so make sure you come and check it out!
